The Importance of Giving

nonprofit stamp

Dues account for only about one-third of the Society's income. Our endowments and other investment income, sales, and service fees help cover much of our additional costs. However, both the American Philatelic Society (APS) and American Philatelic Research Library (APRL) are dependent upon the generosity of members and friends to maintain our existing level of services.

Donations of any size are welcomed by the APS and APRL both of which have non-profit tax exempt status under IRS Section 501(c)3 and are recognized as public charities. Many different types of gifts may be made. Different methods of giving may result in significantly different benefits to the donor. So you may want to consider the type of gift that best matches your goals. While we appreciate the flexibility of unrestricited donations, we understand that some donors wish to designate their support for specific programs.

Donations of all sizes are welcome. However, individuals and organizations who pledge to donate a minimum of $1,000 within a four year period are designated as Tiffany Donors and eligible for special recognition and privileges. Unless anonymity is requested, all donors are publicity recognized in an honor roll published in the special recognition issue of The American Philatelist.

The APS/APRL Development Office is glad to answer any questions you may have. The form below may be used to request specific information or we can be contacted by e-mail to tiffany@stamps.org, by phone at 814-933-3803 or at 100 Match Factory Place, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
