Stamp
Collecting 101
August 14; 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Register
for the special adult
beginner program -- Attendance is limited,
registration is required, and there is a fee for supplies
($15 for APS members or their spouses, $20 for non-members)
Stamps in the Classroom
August 12; 10 am-2:30 pm; $10
Educators, learn how stamps can help students master state standards using postage stamps. A laptop computer will be helpful but not required. More information is available and register and receive the materials you need to incorporate this hands-on resource in your lesson plan.
Scout Stamp Collecting
Merit Badge Program
August 13 and 14; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day; $15 Only one day is required.
Sign
up to start your collection and earn your stamp collecting merit
badge. Includes a tour of the show, exciting
hands-on activities, and collecting starter kit! Registration is required.
Youth
Area
Open every day,
a
special area has been set aside for youth, fully equipped and
staffed by knowledgeable collectors who are there to guide youngsters
through the basics of the hobby. Stamps, puzzles, hands-on
demonstrations, games, and much more will be available -- and
its FREE. The APS will also help defer the costs of bus transportation
for any youth groups who arrange (in advance) to come to the
show. Half priced frames are available for advanced youth
who wish to exhibit competitively.
Young
Stamp Collectors of America
August 15; 1 p.m.
The YSCA meeting is a special time to have fun with philatelic
activities, meet other young collectors, receive stamps, a special
First Day Cover, and other prizes. Membership is available at the
show. Preregristration is not required and there is no charge.
Dime & Dollar
Booths
Several special
booths are designed for beginners. No stamp may be sold for more
than 10¢ and no cover for more than $1 at these booths. At
one booth a bucket of stamps will cost only $5 ($1 for kids age
15 and under).
