12 Family Day
Bring
your entire family along to the show. Become a part of the
hobby with something for everyone — from the very young
to the young at heart.
The APS StampShow Family Day program
features hands-on activities to promote stamp collecting as
a fun, family hobby. Practice soaking stamps from envelopes,
create your very own “Stamp Story,” or go on a
stamp scavenger hunt. Read a book about Owney, the Post Office
mascot, play stamp-related games, or put together a stamp puzzle.
Finish off your day with a decoupage project!
The
American Philatelic Society, the national stamp collecting
organization, is offering APS Family Day to
promote stamp collecting as a fun, educational, family-friendly
hobby. Therefore, all activities in the Family Day area
are specially designed to get the entire family
involved. Activities begin at 10 am, Sunday morning, and end
at 4 pm.
At the end each family will receive a treasure bag of stamps
and stamp collecting supplies to enable you to continue your
fun at home.
Register now. Admission to the show is free; the cost of a Family
Day ticket is only $10 per family. Additional family opportunities
at StampShow include an area where you can purchase a bucket
of stamps for a minimal fee, dime and dollar booths, and a free youth
area.
Help spread the word that stamp collecting is fun. For more
information or to register, contact Janet Houser, APS Youth Program
Coordinator, 814-933-3803 ext. 238; jehouser@stamps.org.
