We're Telling Your Stories with our "Stamp-Show and Tell" Blog Series

“Stamp-Show and Tell” from Your Local Philatelic Events

Have you ever come away from a stamp exposition or event with pictures and stories that you wanted to share? Do you think your local philatelic show doesn’t get the widespread attention it deserves? Now’s your chance to share your stamp show experiences with everyone.

The American Philatelic Society is launching a new blog series “Stamp-Show and Tell,” where we will publish your stories and pictures from a philatelic show, exposition, or event that you recently attended. Email mediateam@stamps.org with pictures, a scan of a program, or an anecdote about a lecture you attended (or a philatelic anniversary, a ceremony, a chance meeting with a fellow philatelist). We’re excited to share your stories, document the successes of local shows—big and small—, and preserve memories that bring us together as a philatelic community.

Stories + photos + event details → it’s as if we were really there!

Our first installment of the series is ‘“Stamp-Show and Tell” from the St. Louis Stamp Expo 2019,’ featuring details from Casey Jo White (@philatelythings on Twitter), who spoke at the first day of issue ceremony for the Coral Reefs stamps. She told us that she was excited to share her love of post cards with even more people, even if they couldn’t attend the St. Louis Expo in person. Read an excerpt from the blog post below:

Casey Jo wrapped up the ceremony by offering some advice. She told the St. Louis crowd, “I believe post cards are still a great way to communicate, to tell someone you’re thinking of them. So, as you’re getting the Coral Reefs stamps for your collection, I want to encourage you to USE one of those stamps and SEND a post card. To your neighbor, your nephew, your best friend . . . Reach out, open up, and share a post card with someone.”

Our Media team will accept photos, scans of documents (tickets, ceremony programs, memorabilia), and anecdotes about your experiences at the philatelic show/event. Please use the subject line “Stamp-Show and Tell” in your email, tell us which show or event you attended, who sponsored it, on what dates, and in what city, and include your name and how you would like to be attributed for the story.

Share your stories and enthusiasm with us and the philatelic community today!

Note: We reserve the right to refuse to publish your story or photo, if the content is not consistent with APS bylaws and quality standards.
