These Office of Strategic Services forgeries are easily distinguished from the genuine German issues. The genuine issues have perforations 14 x 14 for both the 6 and 12 pfennig stamps while the OSS forgery of the 6 pfennig has perforations of 11½ x 12½ and the 12 pfennig perforations of 12½ x 12½. While these stamps easily passed undetected through the German mail there are noticeable shading differences on the front of Hitler’s face. The forgeries have more white patches visible around the area of the eye and where the nose joins the cheek. The genuine stamps have regular evenly spaced lines right across the cheek and nose.
