Summer Seminar on Philately is a once-a-year opportunity to expand your philatelic knowledge and meet others who share your passion and interests. All courses are led by philatelic experts who are accomplished writers, exhibitors, experts, dealers, and specialized collectors.

Engage in numerous hands-on exercises as you gain the knowledge and skills to properly identify the nearly two-hundred varieties of the Washington–Franklin series of definitive stamps. During this two-day course, learn how to recognize face-different designs, sort by perforation, distinguish by printing method, identify watermarks, and differentiate between the types of the 2c and 3c designs.
This course may be combined with Washington-Franklins: Part 2 – Expertizing to create a continuous 4-day experience.
Anyone who collects or wants to collect the Washington-Franklin definitive series.
A West Point graduate and career Army man, Guy Gasser, retired after 30 years of service to his country. He has collected stamps on and off for over 40 years and enjoys helping others learn about and enjoy philately. Guy has been a member of the APS since 2004 and also holds memberships in the U.S. Philatelic Classic Society, the U.S. Stamp Society, the Collector’s Club of NY and two St. Louis area stamp clubs.
