The National Duck Stamp Collectors Society (NDSCS) is pleased to announce that Rebekah Knight of Deepwater, MO, is the winner of their annual art competition. Ms. Knight's painting of harlequin drake will grace the 2024 Society stamp. This is Ms. Knight's fourth society stamp. She previously did the 2013, 2018, and 2021 stamps, along with the 2006 Federal Junior duck stamp and the 2013 Nevada issue.
The stamp will have a first day of sale ceremony at the Great American Stamp Show on Thursday, August 15 in Hartford, CT. The ceremony begins at 3:00 pm and is free to attend. It will be held on the show floor next to the U.S. Postal Service.
A total of 14 entries were received from society member artists and voting was open to the entire membership of the NDSCS. All 14 entries received votes!
Second place went to Ray Easton of Webster, N.Y., with his painting of a blue-winged teal, and third place was tie between Gerald Putt's wood duck and Diane Ford's gadwall.
The National Duck Stamp Collectors Society was founded in 1992. They issued their first stamp in 2009 and the series features a Who's Who of wildlife artists.
You can order the stamps from the Society web site: ndscs.org or your favorite duck stamp dealer. Membership in the Society is available for $25 a year and includes a subscription to the quarterly journal, Duck Tracks.
