New Visitation Hours for American Philatelic Center
The American Philatelic Society (APS) is pleased to announce an increase in scheduled visits for its members at the American Philatelic Center (APC) beginning May 3, 2021. The expanded schedule also includes the Gift Shop, where members can shop for stamps and covers.
Expanded Schedule
Members will make appointments available in three-hour blocks to research in the library or circuit sales. Operational hours will now be Monday through Friday with two available blocks: 9 am to 12 noon or 1 pm to 4 pm. The Gift Shop will be available for appointments in 90-minute blocks between 9 am and 12 noon or 1 pm to 4 pm. Previous restrictions of one-day limits or one-block per day have been removed.
In order to maintain social distancing and other health and safety requirements, each department can host up to:
-
- Library: 4 members
- Circuit Sales: 2 members
- Gift Shop: 3 members
“We’re glad to have members back in the American Philatelic Center,” said Scott English, Executive Director of the American Philatelic Society, “Based on our success, we want to provide more opportunity for members to use our services safely.”
Appointment and Visitation
To make an appointment, members can email [email protected] or call 814-933-3816. When scheduling, members should provide material requests to be waiting upon arrival in the library, circuit sales, or the Gift Shop.
For groups planning to visit the American Philatelic Center, space is limited in each department. If a visiting member needs special accommodations, please advise us when scheduling.
Health and Safety Protocols
The health and safety protocols of the American Philatelic Center are per the mandates of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Upon arrival, members will have a temperature check, be issued a mask, sign in, and escorted to the designated area. APC policy requires maintaining social distancing, wearing masks over the nose and mouth at all times, and avoiding congregate areas. Members will stay in the designated area during visits, and some areas of the building will be restricted.
If a member feels ill or has been exposed to someone testing positive for COVID, they must reschedule their visit.
After the scheduled appointment, staff will escort members out of the building. The APS continues to follow aggressive cleaning protocols to high-touch areas. To ensure all members can safely access the space, we will adhere to the schedule.
