The APS is excited to be an official partner of the Summer of Stamps virtual festival taking place from 9 July on the All About Stamps website.
The online event is set to offer collectors a bustling stamp marketplace, featuring the latest stock and information from a wide range of stamp traders and auction houses; daily content, including exclusive videos and guides from organizations including the American Philatelic Society (APS), the British Library Philatelic Collections and London’s The Postal Museum; a virtual goody bag, featuring offers and discounts; and competitions, challenging collectors to put together one-page stamp displays.
Website editor Matt Hill said: “This is a month-long celebration of the wonderful hobby of stamp collecting, and we can’t wait to share the festival program and open the doors on this new type of event. It’s really exciting and encouraging to be working with organizations such as the American Philatelic Society. Right now it’s hard for people to come together, but by holding the celebration online we can bring together collectors from around the world and make the festival a truly international event.”
The Festival Program includes the chance to take a virtual ride on ‘Mail Rail’, London’s underground postage delivery system; view society displays; watch expert stamp guides from curators and renowned philatelists; and enjoy a special screening of the film ‘Freaks and Errors: A Rare Collection’.
