By an overwhelming margin, The Confederate Stamp Alliance voted on November 21, 2020 to change its name to the Civil War Philatelic Society.
The vote to the Restatement of Certificate of Formation and the Bylaws was conducted by mail and email to the alliance's members. It needed a two-thirds majority to pass, and it did. Of the 365 ballots, 310 voted "Yes" (85%) to 55 who voted "No" (15%).
Founded in 1935, CSA described itself as: "...a society of collectors and students working together to collect and study the stamps and postal history of a short-lived confederation of states, without the bias of politics or sectionalism."

The change is intended to show that all who enjoy the study the stamps and postal history of the Civil War, both North and South, will be welcome.
Changes to the organization's content are ongoing. One last issue of the Confederate Philatelist will appear this year. As of 2021, it will be published as the Civil War Philatelist.
The Civil War Philatelic Society will continue as an APS affiliate.
