The Society of Israel Philatelists (SIP) is currently looking to fill the long-term position of Administrative Assistant. The position is part-time and offers a flexible schedule with work being performed between 8:30 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. With work taking place at the American Philatelic Center in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, the successful candidate will provide administrative support for the SIP, a national affiliate of the American Philatelic Society. The position reports to the SIP Board of Directors with day-to-day oversight by APS staff.
Among the duties of the position are membership database processing and maintenance, donation acknowledgement, book order fulfillment, website content creation, assistance with SIP Board reports as well as daily correspondence by phone, letter, and e-mail. Applicants should demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills as well as a working knowledge of basic business software (MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.).
The SIP was founded in 1948 in New York City when a group of stamp collectors with a common interest in Israel and Holy Land philately gathered to organize a society dedicated to publishing, exhibiting and learning Holy Land postal history. Since 1959 the society has published a quarterly journal titled The Israel Philatelist.
