I’m sad to report the recent passing of three APS members who served on our board or staff. George Fekete joined the APS in 1997 and served as an APS vice president from 2003 through 2007. He was active in the Rochester Philatelic Association and chaired the ROPEX World Series of Philately show.
Gini Horn joined the APS as librarian in 1984. Over the next 25 years Gini was not only responsible for growing the library, its resources and services, but also coordinated our move from Oakwood Avenue in State College, Pennsylvania, to the Match Factory complex 10 miles away in Bellefonte. She retired in 2010. A more complete obituary is available here, as well as on page 316 of the American Philatelist.
Jack Standen joined the APS in 1967. A little over 10 years later he accepted a position in the APS sales division, where he worked until his retirement in 2001. Jack collected stamps as a youth and even after retiring from the APS was a member of the Black River Stamp Club and wrote a stamp collecting column for the Chronicle Telegram newspaper in Elyria, Ohio.
