The Great American Stamp Show kicks off in a big way at 11 a.m. on opening day as show co-sponsor – the United States Postal Service – officially dedicates five new stamps depicting Pony Cars. The pane of 20 features spectacular artwork showing American-made pony cars from late Sixties era: the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302, the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, the 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7 GT and the 1969 AMC Javelin SST. Arrive early to get a good seat at the dedication. After the ceremony, dedicating officials will offer autographs in the signing line. There will be first day covers and a special first day of issue cancellation. The artist of the stamps, Tom Fritz, will be in attendance. At 3:00 p.m., there is a pre-launch ceremony for the United Nation's Postal Administration for a set of six new stamps that feature the Great Spa Towns of Europe. Both ceremonies take place on the show floor stage next to the USPS booth.
