Position: Director of Expertizing
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Bellefonte, PA (limited travel required)
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
Type: Full Time Exempt
General Responsibilities:
The Director of Expertizing manages the operation of the American Philatelic Expertizing Service (APEX), the authentication arm of the Society. The position includes responsibility for vision, leadership, budget development and oversight, recruitment/retention of area experts, marketing, supervision of one employee and volunteers, liaison with other expertizing services and the National Postal Museum, and evaluation of appropriate technology.
The position also includes curation of the Society’s reference collection of genuine and spurious philatelic material and oversight of the APS Estate Advisory Service.
Required Experience/Skills
• Strong philatelic knowledge especially related to stamp production
• Working knowledge of standard office software and aptitude for other software
• Solid understanding of the philatelic marketplace

• Previous professional work in philately

• Grant writing and fundraising
• Bachelors Degree
