POSITION SUMMARY
APS is seeking a strategic and hands-on Marketing Manager to lead the execution of integrated marketing efforts that drive engagement and participation across programs and platforms and significantly grows membership. This role is ideal for a creative, data-driven marketer who thrives in a small team environment and enjoys balancing strategy with day-to-day production.
The Marketing Manager is a key member of a three-person Marketing Team (Marketing Manager, Digital Content Specialist, and Videographer) and collaborates closely with the Technology, Editorial, Education, Membership, Sales, and Library teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Email & Newsletter Marketing
- Plan, write, produce, and optimize a weekly email newsletter focused on maximizing engagement, click-through rates, and conversions.
- Develop compelling email marketing campaigns supporting membership, education, sales, events, publications, and fundraising initiatives.
- Segment audiences and personalize messaging to improve relevance and performance.
Marketing Automation & Journeys
- Configure, manage, and optimize APS’s automated marketing system.
- Design and maintain prospect and member journeys that nurture interest, deepen engagement, and drive conversion.
- Monitor performance and refine journeys based on data and user behavior.
Digital & Web Content
- Write and edit high-performing web copy that aligns with brand voice and improves engagement and conversion.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness.
- Apply SEO and UX best practices to digital content where appropriate.
Social Media Management
- Manage, coordinate and scale APS’s multi-platform social media presence.
- Develop content calendars and campaign concepts that drive web traffic, engagement and conversion.
- Monitor analytics, trends, and audience feedback to continuously improve performance.
Campaign Planning & Integration
- Develop and execute integrated marketing and campaign plans in support of organizational priorities.
- Coordinate messaging across email, web, social, print, and video channels.
- Work closely with the Digital Content Specialist and Videographer to align creative assets with campaign goals.
Print & Physical Marketing Assets
- Develop and maintain all physical marketing assets including brochures, program fliers, table top displays, retractable banners and other promotional collateral as needed.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of marketing assets.
Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Track, analyze, and report on key performance marketing metrics.
- Use data to optimize campaigns, content, and journeys to maximize engagement and conversion.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the VP and cross-functional program teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Demonstrable experience crafting highly engaging newsletter, email marketing, social media and website copy.
- Proven experience configuring and managing automated marketing systems, including developing and optimizing high performing triggered and campaign specific marketing journeys.
- Strong understanding of performance marketing metrics and experience optimizing campaigns for conversion.
- Demonstrable experience with social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social or other similar software.
- Experience managing and coordinating highly engaging, multi-platform social media presences.
- Excellent written communication and editorial judgment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred
- Experience working in a nonprofit, membership-based, or education-focused organization.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, CMS platforms and analytics tools.
- Experience collaborating in small teams with overlapping responsibilities.
- Demonstrable experience using AI technology to streamline workflows and create highly engaging marketing content.
- Experience or background in philately, collectibles or hobby sectors.
