Young Philatelic Leaders Fellowship

Cultivating The Next Generation of Philatelic Leaders

The Young Philatelic Leaders Fellowship provides collectors aged 16 to 24 with the opportunity to learn from experts in the hobby and gain experience in their chosen track, fostering a lifelong connection with philately.

 

 

Classes of 2025 + 2026      

 

Connect with Experts
Fellows build relationships with top collectors, exhibitors, writers, dealers, and researchers through immersive, in-person experiences.

Hands-On Experience
Each Fellow completes a year-long project in one of six tracks: Author, Curator, Dealer, Analyst, Designer, or Exhibitor.

Fellows gain experience by:

  • Attending two APS national shows alongside APS staff

  • Visiting the Smithsonian National Postal Museum

  • Touring the American Philatelic Center in Bellefonte, PA

  • All travel, lodging, and meals are fully covered by APS

2026-2027 Cohort

Timeline

Now – January 15 – Nomination form open

December 1 – February 1 – Application form open 

December 1 – February 1 – Applicant reference form open 

By March 1 – Applicants notified of decision, includes information about Boston 2026 and other program elements

By March 15 – Fellow Agreement/Formal commitment

By April 1 – Travel arrangements made for Boston 2026

We invite collectors aged 16 to 24 to apply. APS members may also nominate collectors aged 16 to 24 for the fellowship.
