Dr. Posner demonstrates how the examination of a cover can be a catalyst for the understanding of postal, social, and cultural history of a time period. Learn about the lives of those who sent and those who received a single cover while being caught-up in a compelling story of a family's journey from Germany to America.

Letters to a War of 1812 General: 1814-1815
Description: Three letters sent to a Pennsylvania militia Brigadier General in 1814 and 1815 are connected by the Battle of Baltimore preparations. The senders were the governor of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Secretary of War and a homeowner in Westminster, MD. These letters add to the history of what has been called the forgotten war.
