The Next Generation of Philatelic Leaders
Applications for the YPLF Class of 2026 will be accepted beginning February 15, 2025. Application deadline is May 15, 2025.
The Young Philatelic Leaders Fellowship (YPLF) is a year-long program which seeks to support aspiring philatelists. We connect stamp collectors between the ages of 16 and 24 with knowledgeable philatelic leaders and access to unique learning experiences.
During the intensive journey through the world of stamp collecting, Fellows will:
- Choose a track to focus on during their year of study
- Complete and present a research project on a topic within their chosen track
- Receive a one-year APS membership
- Learn from their mentor and other philatelic leaders
- Meet and socialize with other YPLF fellows and alumni
- Travel to the 2025 Great American Stamp Show, the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, and other events
- Interact with stamp collectors from around the United States
- Support youth education efforts at APS shows
Tracks
YPLF Fellows choose a track to focus their year of study. Fellows will work with their mentor to learn about their chosen track and form a project to present. Tracks and projects are developed to match the needs and interests of individual participants. Tracks include Author, Curator, Dealer, Analyst, Designer, and Exhibitor.
Cost
Travel, lodging, and meal expenses for each Fellow, and an accompanying guardian for Fellows under 18, are paid by the American Philatelic Society. Members of the Society donate funds to the YPLF program. Without their generous support, the program would not be possible.
