POSITION SUMMARY
The Digital Marketing Specialist serves as the primary steward of the American Philatelic Society's social media presence and outward-facing digital communications. This position is responsible for planning, creating, curating, publishing, and optimizing content across APS social media channels, email communications, newsletters, website properties, and other digital platforms to increase audience engagement,strengthen member connections, support organizational goals, and expand awareness of APS programs, services, events, publications, andinitiatives.
The role oversees the day-to-day execution of APS's social media presence, email marketing efforts, weekly digital newsletter, website content updates, and digital audience engagement activities. This position develops compelling content while also identifying, curating, andsharing relevant information from APS affiliates, members, partners, industry organizations, and other trusted sources that provide value tothe APS community.
Working closely with the Marketing Director, Videographer, and internal stakeholders, this position balances content creation, content curation, and digital communications responsibilities to ensure APS maintains an active, engaging, and consistent presence across alldigital channels. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, creativity, organization, adaptability, and the ability to managemultiple projects and publishing schedules simultaneously.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media Strategy & Channel Management
- Serve as the primary coordinator for APS social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, andemerging platforms through the use of Hubspot.
- Develop and execute social media strategies that increase audience engagement, brand awareness, membership growth, andevent participation.
- Create and maintain an integrated content calendar coordinating social media, email marketing, website content, organizationalannouncements, events, and campaigns.
- Schedule, publish, optimize, and monitor content across social media platforms.
- Monitor social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to continuously improve APS's digital presence.
- Ensure brand consistency, messaging alignment, and quality standards across all channels.
Digital Communications & Audience Engagement
- Manage the APS weekly digital newsletter and other email communications utilizing HubSpot.
- Develop, write, curate, format, schedule, and distribute email marketing campaigns and organizational communications.
- Create, update, and maintain website content utilizing Drupal and other content management systems.
- Monitor audience engagement, respond to inquiries, and maintain an active and positive presence across digital channels.
- Coordinate messaging across social media, email, and website platforms to maximize reach, engagement, and consistency.
- Track and report performance metrics across social media, email marketing, and website channels while identifyingopportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate messaging across social media, email, and website channels to maintain consistency and maximize audience reach.
Content Curation, Creation & Community Monitoring
- Develop engaging digital content including social media graphics, short-form videos, reels, photography, written content,member stories, educational content, and promotional materials.
- Assist in creating content that highlights APS members, programs, services, events, publications, collections, and organizationalimpact.
- Identify, curate, and share relevant content from affiliates, chapters, members, industry partners, museums, hobby organizations,and other trusted external sources.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to identify storytelling opportunities and content priorities.
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, AI-powered tools, and other technologies to support content creation, editing, andpublishing workflows.
Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Track and report social media, email and web performance, audience growth, engagement metrics, and content effectiveness.
- Analyze content performance data to identify successful strategies and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide regular insights and recommendations regarding content planning, audience behavior, platform performance, and emerging opportunities.
- Utilize data-driven decision making to improve engagement, reach, and organizational visibility.
Team Collaboration & Organizational Support
- Work closely with the Marketing Director, Videographer, and other APS departments to support strategic marketing andcommunications initiatives.
- Contribute creative ideas, campaign concepts, and storytelling opportunities that support organizational goals.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) within assigned areas of responsibility toensure consistent, efficient, and well-documented operations.

- Demonstrable experience managing social media channels for an organization, brand, nonprofit, or business.
- Experience creating and scheduling social media content across multiple platforms.
- Experience developing, managing, and distributing email newsletters and digital communications.
- Experience creating and deploying email marketing campaigns using HubSpot or similar marketing automation platforms.
- Experience maintaining website content using Drupal or comparable content management systems.
- Experience developing and maintaining content calendars and publishing schedules.
- Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and evolving social media platforms.
- Experience monitoring, curating, and sharing content from third-party organizations, affiliates, partners, and industry sources.
- Experience building audience engagement and managing online communities.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and similar content creation tools.
- Experience producing and editing short-form video content.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Experience utilizing analytics and reporting tools to evaluate content and campaign performance.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, communication channels, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, Social Media, or a related field,or equivalent professional experience.

- Experience working in a nonprofit, association, membership-based, museum, educational, arts, or cultural organization.
- Experience creating content around history, collectibles, hobbies, culture, education, or community-focused interests.
- Photography and basic graphic design experience.
- Experience utilizing HubSpot for email marketing, newsletter development, audience segmentation, and campaign management.
- Experience growing social media audiences and increasing engagement through strategic content initiatives.
- Experience utilizing AI-powered tools to improve content creation and workflow efficiency.
- Familiarity with influencer, partner, affiliate, or community-based content strategies.
