About the American Philatelic Society

With members in more than 110 countries, the American Philatelic Society is the largest, non-profit organization for stamp collectors in the United States. Founded in 1886, the APS serves collectors, educators, postal historians and the general public, both nationally and worldwide, with a wide variety of programs and services. Our members enjoy access to one of the world's largest philatelic libraries, a monthly magazine, and safe avenues for buying and selling philatelic materials.

Position Summary

The Director of Technology & Innovation will lead the strategic use of technology to optimize operations, strengthen member engagement, and enhance learning and e-commerce capabilities. As the staff lead for the newly established Technology & Innovation Task Force, this individual will play a central role in shaping and executing the organization’s digital transformation.

An immediate priority for this position is to provide leadership in evaluating, planning, and modernizing the organization’s web-based services, including the redevelopment of the stamps.org website, and updating and integrating currently stove-piped systems. The Director will manage the design and implementation of a comprehensive, end-to-end digital framework that also supports internal functions such as library services, educational programs, and public events—enhancing the experience of current members and attracting new audiences. Although the current solution is on a .NET framework using DNN as the CMS, the APS would prefer to migrate to a more flexible framework with a large and diverse library of proven plugins.

The ideal candidate is a mid-career technology professional with strong business insight and a proven record of driving organizational change through technology. Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate with non-technical colleagues and volunteer leaders to identify business needs, translate needs into actionable solutions, and oversee the evaluation and selection of technology partners.

Interested candidates should submit their resume and a cover letter that briefly and effectively describes why they are an excellent candidate for this position. Applications without a cover letter will not be considered. Please submit complete applications to talent@stamps.org by 5 p.m. Eastern on October 31, 2025.
