Marjory J. Sente
An avid stamp collector and postal historian, Marjory J. Sente has collected stamps since the fourth grade. Marj has concentrated most of her energy on collecting and studying twentieth-century United States material. Her primary philatelic interest is the 1932 Washington Bicentennial Series, and since moving to Arizona in 2004, the postal history of the Grand Canyon.
Marj’s columns appeared regularly in the philatelic press from 1977 through 2006. They were published in Stamp Collector, National Stamp News, Linn’s Stamp News, Stamps, and McKeels. Her articles on a variety of philatelic subjects have appeared in The American Philatelist, First Days, Stamp Wholesaler, Scott’s Stamp Monthly, Brookman Times, The D.A.R. and The Penn Stater magazines and Country Living.
She pioneered the exhibiting of first day covers to demonstrate postal history with her exhibit of World War II Era Censored First Day Covers.
Marj presented "No Fries ’Til Mail: How Tourism brought Mail Service to the Grand Canyon" at the 2011 William Blount Postal History Symposium and the 2012 Grand Canyon History Symposium. She presented Viewing the Grand Canyon with a Philatelic Eye at the National Postal Museum in 2017 in conjunction with its exhibition, “Trailblazing 100 Years of our National Parks.”
