The American Philatelic Research Library Board of Trustees elected Tom Bieniosek to serve as Vice President of the Board for the remainder of the 2022-2025 term. Bieniosek replaces Greg Galletti, who resigned from the APRL Board on April 4, 2023, when he was appointed to the APS Board of Directors, as reported earlier.
Bieniosek was elected to the APRL Board in 2019, representing Founders, Patrons, and Vooys Fellows. He is a lifelong collector with many interests, including Polish, Bolivian, Argentine, and German Colonies. Bieniosek joined the APS in 1983, serving on the Expert Committee since 2006. Tom is a regular instructor for the annual APS Summer Seminar, and he and his wife, Laurie, are among the annual participants in Volunteer Work Week. Locally, Bienisoek serves as President of the Medina County Stamp Club and is a member and past president of the Collectors Club of Akron.
The APRL Board appointed Dr. Jean Wang to fill Galletti’s unexpired term through 2025 as a Trustee. Wang, who joined the APS in 2021, is an active thematic collector and exhibitor with a five-frame grand award-winning exhibit on blood. Wang has given numerous presentations on medical philately and thematic exhibiting. She has written articles on various aspects of medical philately for The Canadian Philatelist and Topical Time. See Jean discuss thematic collecting with Charles Epting and Michael Cortese on Conversations with Philatelists.
Wang was the membership secretary of the Philatelic Specialists Society of Canada from 2017 to 2019 and has served as membership director since 2020. She is the editor of the annual PSSC Journal and the North Toronto Stamp Club newsletter. She is the RPSC delegate to the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie’s Thematic Commission, a member of the board of directors of the Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation, and since 2018 has been a member of Canada Post’s Stamp Advisory Committee. In 2022, the APS recognized Wang with the Nicholas G. Carter Volunteer Award.
