One of the Few Times an Error, Freak, or Oddity Pays Off!

Errors, freaks, and oddities (EFO) refer to what can go wrong when producing postage stamps including major design errors to stamps that are just poorly printed. And it includes some of the most sought-after and expensive of all stamps and others that attract the attention of only a few specialists.

Who better to guide you through the exciting world of EFO's than instructor, Cemil Betanov, vice-president of the Errors, Freaks and Oddities Collectors’ Club and editor of its publication, The EFO Collector.

During this introductory course, you will discuss reasons for including Errors, Freaks, and Oddities (EFOs) in your collection, explore different types of EFOs, identify where to get additional information, and acquire tips for obtaining these production miscues.

Session 1 (May 4, 2021) – What are Errors, Freaks, and Oddities (EFOs)? Why should you add EFOs to your collection? Overview of major types of EFOs.

Session 2 (May 11, 2021) – An overview of errors, freaks & oddities by category

Session 3 (May 18, 2021) – Where to find EFO-related information. Tips for acquiring EFOs.

What's the Error: Actually it's an Oddity. An oddity is something that is within the bounds of usability for the stamp but still has a distinctive appearance. The usual sort of oddity is misregistration on a multi-colored stamp such as you see here on this Skylab stamp. These can be extremely common.
