A multi-session public auction will be held each day of the Great American Stamp Show scheduled for August 25-28, 2022 in Sacramento, California. Schuyler Rumsey Philatelic Auctions will be the official show auctioneer. Watch their website for auction details and live online bidding during the show.
Rumsey Philatelic Auctions is based in San Francisco, and had their inaugural sale on December 3-5 of 1996. Their most recent and 100th sale, "Gems of Philately" has recently completed on December 10, 2021. Their next 101st sale was at WESTPEX in April 22-24, 2022, where the firm has been an auctioneer since 1999.
The company is known specifically for their offerings of state postal history and was auctioneer for the William H. Bauer collection of Colorado Postal History which was sold on behalf of the APS back in 2013. The Great American Stamp Show will serve as the second sale of the Robert Mason Revenue Collection benefiting the APRL and sale of the US 19th Century collection of former APS board member Jack Flannery.
Schuyler Rumsey has been a collector since the age of 11 and a professional philatelist since the age of 19. He was first introduced to the hobby by his father in 1968 when Rumsey's family lived in Paris. The first sale was dedicated to his dad who had supported his venture to become a philatelic auctioneer (and died earlier in the year of his first sale). Schuyler joined the APS in 1996 and his birthday will be the Saturday of the show.
