The Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of David M. McLaughlin, MBA, FRPSC as President effective November 13, 2023.
David has been a member of the Greene Foundation Board of Directors since 2019. He is the President of the British North America Philatelic Society (BNAPS) for the 2022-2024 term and the International Liaison Officer for the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC). He is also a director of the Federación InterAmericana de Filatelia (FIAF), the international philatelic federation for the Americas, and past director of the RPSC and executive of the Philatelic Specialist Society of Canada (PSSC). David was the concept originator and the exhibition chairman for CAPEX 22, the world’s first International One Frame Stamp Championship exhibition, held in Toronto in June 2022.
David’s main philatelic interest is the Canada 1897-1898 Queen Victoria Maple Leaf issue. He began exhibiting the Maple Leaf issue nationally in 2010 and internationally in 2015. His research on the issue has led to the discovery of previously unrecorded die and plate states and the reclassification of other archival items.
David stated “It is an honour and a privilege for me to serve as President of the Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation and to follow the paths created through the work of my predecessors Harry Sutherland, Ted Nixon, and Garfield Portch. We have a great Board or Directors, and excellent staff members and volunteers. We are here to serve all the philatelic communities in Canada.”
The Vincent Graves Greene Philatelic Research Foundation was established in 1975 with funding from a series of gifts from Vincent Graves Greene, prominent Canadian philatelic researcher, author, exhibitor, and signatory to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists. The Greene Foundation’s purpose is to encourage and promote research in the fields of philately and postal history. This purpose is fulfilled through provision of expertization services for the validation of Canadian philatelic and postal history items; maintenance of the Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library; support for educational programs to improve and expand the knowledge of Canadian philatelists and postal historians; support and participation in philatelic and postal history exhibitions, competitions and displays; and publication of philatelic and postal history research.
