The month of June brought change to the library staff as Sarah Berezenko, the APRL’s Library Assistant for over two years, decided to continue with her education and said goodbye to the library in late May. From her first days at the APRL Sarah brought to the position both a pleasant and engaging personality along with a remarkable focus and work ethic. In her time at the APRL, Sarah redefined many of the library processes used for incoming materials, specifically inventorying and recording journals and auction catalogs into the online catalog. She also redefined and improved the procedures for invoicing and overdues. Her professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond when assisting our members and library patrons will be greatly missed. We wish Sarah the very best in all her future endeavors, but as one door closes another opens.
With Sarah's departure the APRL welcomes Alicia Leathers as the new Library Assistant.. Alicia comes to the library with both an extensive academic and professional background at the Pennsylvania State University and Syracuse University. Alicia graduated from the Pennsylvania State University (B.A., Comparative Literature) and then from Syracuse University (M.S., Library & Information Science).
Alicia began her professional career back at Syracuse University Libraries as a Special Collections Cataloging Intern and followed that at the Pennsylvania State University Libraries as a Preservation Staff Assistant. More recently and locally, Alicia continued in the profession at the Centre County Library & Historical Museum as a Technical Services Assistant in the museum's Pennsylvania Room. Alicia's background includes both cataloging and reference experience both of which will be tremendous assets to the APRL
We welcome Alicia to the library staff and to the APS family!
